A murder in cold blood. Who knew someone so nice could be so bad. Was there a real reason to this crime? Was it for the horses? or maybe something else.
Before Sycamore Academy was built about a year back maybe a bit more someone else owned this lovely land. A young couple in there thirty's. Dave and Mary. A young towns man working on making a new breed of horse with his young wife just happily working with the horses.
Dave, he loves his horses but sometimes riding gaited breeds were a pain in the butt! He still likes there power and control but he didn't like the gaits so he started cross breeding them with quarter horses, morgans, Andalusian, Carthusian and more. Dave had some very expensive horses roaming around and just for safety he got three guard dogs.
The one thing Dave never really though was his best friend could be his worse enemy. Mark, a smart man working for another breeding company and was always interested in Dave's horses, more in his wife Mary though. The big story though is at one point in time Mark and Mary use to be girlfriend boyfriend but Mary left him because he was to clingy and Mark never got over it.
It was around August, the day before Halloween. Mark was plotting to hurt the one who hurt him, he had lost it. When Halloween night had come Mark went down to Dave and Mary's house and broke in. He has suffocated both of them in there sleep so no one could hear there cries before going down to the barn. He put hay around the horses stalls and a lot around Dave's favorite horses, Broken Souls To Fallen Lives. It was Dave's prize mare.
Mark ran out as the fire cracked and started to burn and when people finally saw it, it was so late. The people next door had saw the fire and ran down to see if they could free some horses, only two in the front...
At the end many horses died, including Broken Souls To Fallen Lives. When they did the horse head count with all the horses somewhere missing from the head count. The two that were alive with the firemen were with them and they thought those were the only horses so they recounted. They had way less then 27 horses.
They opened up a search for the horses and looked high and low but could find a single one of them. They kept looking for quiet a while, one full week. They found one pony on the who look out and after that they pretty much just gave up on the such and put the land up for sale.
Only a fair year late a young women in her twenties, Marci Nutmeg, bought the land to start on her riding school. Marci soon started rebuilding everything and adding new things to and the first thing she started with was the house. She took it almost completely apart and started to remake it into the staff living quarters. She stripped the colors and put up sweet pine boards with small ledges were the windows were. She added on rooms to the house, fixed up the kitchen and doubled the size, turned the bare living room into a nice sixty style.
Around the house Marci added small portables for class rooms that could be moved any time, plus the students houses that were in a nice view of the ocean. Once all the living areas were done and dealt with Marci went on to the outdoor arena that had good new sand footing and put up a new fence line. She also put together an indoor arena that would defiantly be needed if it started to rain.
After that Marci started on the large burnt barn. It took a lot of work but she fixed all 28 stalls and the roof was nice, a tack room was added and cross ties where done. She also made a new barn but smaller only 12 horses could be fitted. After that Marci went to the paddocks and put up new fences spaced them out nicely so there could be two people between the gaps. They where pretty big enough room to run around and fix two three horses in there.
Last, Marci took her horse, Sugar-foot, out and started marking trails with red, blue, and yellow flags so people could find there way around and back. Some flags went to the ocean well others went along the cliff to a cave, one went up the side of the cliff to the top, and another one took you out a couple of miles to a small arena with logs to sit on and an open fire pit and a small fenced off area for horses.
When the school was finally up Marci started to accept students and once the school was buzzing she really started to notice things. Her new instructor, Ty Luck, though the girl was very good at what she does no one really liked her in the school and that bothered Marci. She didn't want to fire Ty because no one wanted to work with her.
The other thing was the who school was split in three groups. Moderate Gang, The Royals, and Underprivileged. The Moderate Gang were people who believed that the horses that had died were still here, spiritually. They also believed that the horses that escaped also lived still and they would do anything to find them. Some owned there own horses or rode a school horse. The Royals, they were the students who had a lot of money owned there own horses and wanted nothing to do with the ghost horses.
Last, Underprivileged, the one half of the school that didn't make it in The Royals but didn't believe that any of the horses where alive or that ghosts where real. They also couldn't afford there own horses so rode school horse. But see the thing is everyone hated the Underprivileged and the Underprivileged hated everyone else. The Royals and Moderate Gang despised each other always fighting and competing.
What Side do you lay on?
